×Surface electrodes are placed on the skin above the belly of the biceps brachii muscle to record surface EMG (sEMG). Amplitude and frequency of spikes (motor unit action potentials) are measured from sEMGs and used to compare motor unit activation.
The amplitude and frequency of sEMG spikes will be measured when the muscle is at rest (muscle tone) and during flexion and extension against a muscle load of 5 pounds.
The amplitude and frequency of sEMG spikes will be measured while the muscle maintains the arm at a 90° angle with increasing muscle loads.
