Congratulations on completing Pre-Lab Reporting.
Select Data Collection to continue the experiment.
×A thin slice of rat brain from the hippocampus will be obtained in order to observe multipolar neurons.
To determine the location of the trigger zone, a neuron will be filled with a voltage-dependent fluorescent dye. The dendrite will be stimulated with an electric charge (measured in volts) large enough to generate an action potential. Changes in membrane potential will be observed as color changes and the color change due to an action potential will first be observed at the trigger zone (continue scrolling for more).
Stimulate the dendrite with increasing voltages (representing increasing graded potential voltages) until an action potential is generated. Patch clamp electrodes and voltage-dependent fluorescent dye will be used to measure the action potential voltage at the axon hillock and axon.
Stimulate dendrite at increasing frequencies (less time between stimulations). Measure the number of action potentials generated.
Based on what you know, predict the outcome of each experiment. Complete the numbered statements below by choosing one response for each number.
When you are done, click the Submit button to save your responses to the laboratory report.
You have correctly defined all of the variables.

Correct.
Try Again.
×You have not defined all of the variables correctly. Try again.
×Now determine the dependent, independent, and controlled variables for each experiment in this laboratory activity by clicking on the appropriate answers.
Check your answers until you have chosen all variables correctly. There will be one choice for Dependent and Independent Variables and multiple choices for Controlled Variables. When you are done, click the Submit button to save your responses to the laboratory report.
